Ecotone Farm is proud to announce that we now supply the Brevard Zoo with our delicious Bibb lettuce as a source of food and nutrition for its animal population. Brevard Zoo (www.brevardzoo.org) is a 75 acre facility located just east if Interstate 95 off Wickham Road in Melbourne, Florida. Brevard Zoo is a leader in the industry that provides wildlife conservation through education and participation.
Lettuce is a very perishable product, and once it grows past its typical packaging size for the general populous, Ecotone Farm now delivers several cases of Bibb lettuce each week to the Brevard Zoo that in turn feeds it to its diverse animal population. Some of the animals that are now regularly feed our Bibb lettuce include tortoises and giraffes among others. It’s very interesting and important to keep in mind that many animals incorporate fruits and vegetables as a natural part of their diet. The Brevard Zoo understands the importance of providing a healthy and natural diet to its animal population.
Another common area of interest between Ecotone Farm and the Brevard Zoo is the importance of environmental sustainability. Through their partnership with FPL, Brevard Zoo has incorporated solar panels that in turn operate several exhibits throughout the zoo.
