On July 16, 2019 Ecotone Farm hosted the participants in the North-South Institute’s Business and Food Summit for a tour of our farm. The theme of this summit is the expansion and development of sustainable and resilient farms by building the capacity of socially disadvantaged farmers and veterans using USDA programs that are targeted in 24 Florida counties. Dr. Samuel Scott is the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North-South Institute. This organization provides support and direction to farming operations with educational programs, coordination with extension agents, low interest farm loans, and other means.
Ecotone Farm looks forward to continuing to provide further support to organizations like the North-South Institute for training, including starting and managing a small farm, hydroponic production methodologies, pest management, and other related topics. Ecotone Farm is in the process of developing its own small farm hands on educational opportunities for the beginning and advanced farmer.
