Ecotone Farm provided a donation of our hydroponic greenhouse Bibb lettuce for all the attendees at an April 14, 2018 event at Kai Kai Farm in Stuart, Florida. The event was held for the Treasure Coast Food Bank in a continuous effort to spread the message about local families and individuals struggling with hunger in our community. This event began with an 11 am tour of the Kai Kai Farm operation, and everyone found it very enlightening as to how local produce is actually grown and learned of some of the struggles to make it successful. From insect management to the ever changing weather patterns, farmers face a daily struggle to grow local, healthy produce.
After the farm tour, everyone that attended was provided a delicious brunch that included fresh vegetables directly from the farm. Ecotone Farm was proud to be able to assist with spreading the message in support of the Treasure Coast Food Bank and to support another local farmer in this agritourism event.
